A world of opportunities at fair
We were delighted to attend the best Opportunities Fair so far at Portsmouth Guildhall.
Half a dozen of our dedicated team gave up their Saturday to man our stand at the fourth annual careers showcase.
We joined many other businesses at the popular event to show young people aged 10 to 13 and their families just what exciting opportunities there are in the area when they leave school, college and university. Hundreds of people poured through the doors on the day.
Our team, led by Managing Director Bill McAndrew, set up a stand with banners, displays of equipment and information, and a video screen showing some of our many interesting projects.
We were on hand to talk about the wide range of expertise, high level qualifications and rewarding careers on offer in property related services – including chartered surveying, structural engineering, architecture, electrical engineering and computer aided design – and also offer practical careers advice.
Visitors also flocked to our stand to enter our competition to win an iTunes voucher by guessing the name of the building in a picture on the screen. It was, of course, the Tower of London – one of the many historic buildings we have carried out conservation work upon. We also gave away just under 200 presentation bags duing the day.
Our Director Ian Lee, who was among our team on the day, said: “It was very busy and it went very well.
“We were very pleased to offer advice and information to the many young people who came to our stand.”
There were also interactive activities at the Fair as well as talks, displays, question and answer sessions, entertainment and competitions.
The Fair is run by the education workstream of The Future of Portsmouth along with the Education Business Partnership Portsmouth, and is funded by Portsmouth City Council.
We had a great day – see you next year!
