Building on solid foundations
New figures have given us all a boost as we head into the second half of the year, especially for the construction sector.
As a leading firm of chartered surveyors and provider of property related services, we were pleased to see the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revise figures for UK growth upwards.
The ONS said that the economy grew faster than previously thought in the first quarter of 2015, because of better figures than first calculated for construction.
With an overall increase of 0.4% compared to the previously estimated 0.3%, it means that the economy grew by 2.9% in 2015 for the first quarter compared with 2014.
This is great news as it shows the economic recovery continuing to gain traction with sustained growth over the past 12 months.
With figures for the second quarter of April, May and June still to come, most analysts are optimistic that growth will have accelerated in this period as confidence returns after the general election.
Opinion is divided on interest rates with some experts suggesting a small rise by a quarter of one per cent later this year.
Most, however, don’t expect to see any increase until Spring 2016 at the earliest.
We have had a great first half of the year with demand for our surveys and property-related surveys continuing to rise.
We’re also employing more staff to increase our capacity and extend our range of services for new and existing clients.
We expect a busy July before the summer holidays begin in earnest so please do get in touch if we can help with any of your needs – whether for surveys, public or commercial developments and a wide range of property, mechanical and electrical engineering, legal work, boundary surveys and architectural design solutions.
