Employment figures are just the job
More good news as we approach the weekend – this time on unemployment figures.
Although the number nationally has risen slightly by 25,000 to 1.85million, the figure for the Portsmouth area has dropped.
According to the Office for National Statistics, the number of people claiming jobseekers’ allowance fell from 2,253 to 2,170.
That’s good news as it indicates a strengthening of the economy with more firms taking new employees on and investing in their businesses.
We’re one of those businesses after recently employing a new member of staff, Steve Funnell. Steve’s arrival to bolster our ever-busy chartered surveying division is part of an ongoing recruitment drive.
Nationally, although unemployment has risen over the second quarter from April to June, it is still way below the same period last year when 354,000 more people were out of work.
We’re still looking for more chartered surveyors and apprentices as we continue to expand and enjoy increased demand for our services. So please do get in touch if you think you may be suitable.
Whether you are jobhunting, house hunting or simply relaxing, do have a good weekend.
