Flying January following record December
We’ve had a flying start to 2016 with one of our busiest Januaries so far.
It comes hot on the heels of our record December as we look forward to another great year.
Demand has continued for our range of services, including surveys, structural and mechanical engineering, architectural design and party walls work.
We’ve also just passed the second anniversary of our merger with Brunel Design Associates.
This has proved a great success, as has the merger with Veness Chartered Surveyors in September 2014.
As we continue to expand, we’re hoping to step up our recruitment drive over the coming year to meet growing demand.
We’re keeping a close eye on the property market as we progress into 2016 with stamp duty increases for second home buyers and buy to let landlords due to increase in April.
The Government has issued a consultation paper about the proposals, although any comments have to be lodged by February 1.
More generally, house prices for the whole of 2015 increased nationally by 9.5% up to an average of £208,286, according to the Halifax although Nationwide placed the rise at 4.5%.
Analysts are divided on the timing of an interest rise with some forecasting an increase this Autumn while others point to next Spring. Either way, it should only be a rise of 0.5%.
