Have a great weekend!
What are you up to this weekend? We’ve had another great week, which has just flown by.
We had a superb March, which has continued into April; this has been reflected in the latest figures from the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML).
The CML (www.cml.org.uk/home/) has credited a big jump in mortgage lending in March to a late surge among landlords aiming to beat the April 1 deadline for the new Stamp Duty Land Tax surcharge.
It says that gross mortgage lending reached £25.7bn in March – 59% higher than in March 2015.
The 3% stamp duty surcharge was introduced for purchases of homes that are not the buyer’s main residence.
Although some analysts expect the market to slow a little after the rush, many mortgage lenders and property professionals have remained very busy.
This may be attributable to a backlog which built up in the systems as a knock-on effect as other buyers finding that mortgages brokers, surveyors and conveyancers were busier than usual – slowing down the buying process.
At McAndrew Martin we pride ourselves on a quick turnaround of our survey reports; in fact, many clients place this as a higher priority than price.
We place the utmost importance on high-quality customer service throughout the business, from our surveys and architectural design to structural, mechanical and electrical engineering.
Indeed, we were recognised as one of the best businesses in the area as one of the finalists in the Customer Service title at the Portsmouth News Business Excellence Awards earlier this year.
The public also remain confident in the housing market, according to the property website Zoopla.
The Portsmouth News has reported that a new survey from Zoopla has shown that householders in the south-east are the most confident of continued housing price increases.
