Housing goes through roof
A new survey has given more evidence of growth in the housing market as the economy improves.
The Markit UK Construction PMI report showed that housebuilding increased at its fastest rate in nearly 11 years in July.
It said that the increase – the steepest since November 2003 – was due to strong demand for new projects.
At McAndrew Martin, we’ve also noticed the increase in construction projects and demand for our services.
We also recently launched our Land and New Homes department to drive forward developments across the south.
Housebuilding is just one part of the PMI index. It also includes commercial building and civil engineering.
Overall, the index was just down to 62.4 in July for the entire construction sector, from 62.6 in June. However, anything above the 50 level indicates growth.
Hiring in the construction sector also increased at its fastest rate since the survey began in April 1997.
The new figures show increased confidence in the property market and further evidence of the economic recovery gaining traction.
We’ve also seen a 45 per cent increase in demand for our survey reports as the property market continues to strengthen.
Our expert team of property professionals offer a range of services across the board – including surveys, architecture, design and project management as well as support for landlords and developers.
