In demand – Portsmouth in housing survey
New figures show that Portsmouth has one of the highest demands for housing in the UK.
The city has been named second in eMoov’s national hotspots index which rates the property market in the UK’s 150 most populated towns and cities.
It was second to Rugby with Bristol in third place for the first quarter of this year.
Our director Ian Lee was asked by the News for his opinion and said that the picture tallies with our experience so far in 2017.
Ian, a twice former chairman of the Portsmouth Property Association (PPA), said: “We have been incredibly busy in the first quarter of this year with unprecedented demand for surveys, which reflects the findings of the report.
“The buyers are out there and properties are being sold almost immediately as they come to market. It is a sellers’ market with demand outstripping supply.
“We always encourage our clients to have realistic expectations, and believe it is important to have a sustainable and healthy property market.
“We always ask people to use members of the Portsmouth Property Association (PPA) which has the area’s best interests at heart.”
Other property professionals in the area have also attributed the strong demand to the area becoming more desirable while prices remain competitive.
Low housing stocks, regeneration and high profile events such as the America’s Cup and Victorious festival have also played their part.
