Project

New Modular HIVE Facility Delivered at RAF Northolt

The project delivered a new modular HIVE building at RAF Northolt to provide enhanced community facilities for service personnel and their families. The building incorporated CTM (Counter-Terrorism Measures) enhancements due to its location outside the wire, ensuring compliance with stringent security requirements. The facility was designed to offer a welcoming and functional environment, featuring offices, an open-plan hall, ablutions, and tea points to support a range of welfare and community activities. The completed building was officially opened by Prince Philip, underscoring its significance within the RAF estate.

Completed in February 2015 for ISS on behalf of DEFRA and the Environment Agency, the scheme required careful coordination to meet both operational and security standards. Achieving CTM compliance was a key challenge, demanding robust design solutions and close liaison with stakeholders to ensure the building met all protective measures without compromising usability. The result was a modern, secure, and versatile facility that continues to serve as a vital hub for RAF personnel and their families.
