Reaching for the skies with airline giant

A £1m deal is set to be struck for the Spinnaker Tower to be sponsored by airline giant Emirates.
The Dubai-based company and the city council are expected to finalise the deal for the next five years.
According to the Portsmouth News, the arrangement will mean the landmark being repainted in Emirates colours – perhaps red is not the best colour in a ‘blue’ city – although it’s not clear whether the tower will be renamed or not.
Plenty of football clubs have gone down the route of offering naming rights of their stadiums to sponsors and it can be a valuable source of income.
It could be argued that the Emirates deal is a good move if it brings in much needed funding amid Government cuts and if it boosts visitor numbers although many people will have concerns about the ‘family silver’ being sold off.
We can vouch for the superb views from the Tower after holding our 25th anniversary party there last September. Hundreds of guests attended the extravaganza, including business associates, suppliers, family, friends, former colleagues and dignitaries. It was a great night to top our silver anniversary celebrations.
If the new sponsors of the Tower or the city council need any help, we’re happy to offer our wide range of comprehensive services – including surveys, conservation, electrical and mechanical engineering, architectural design, fire risk assessments and project management. Our staff may stop short of re-painting the Tower themselves but we’re sure we can find a local contractor to help!
If you’re visiting the Tower this weekend, have a great time. If not, have a super weekend whatever you are up to.
