Following a period of sustained growth, McAndrew Martin are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to join the team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a well-established firm of Chartered Surveyors, Architect and Engineers.

As a business we can provide solutions to our client base across the following disciplines: Architectural, Structural Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Building Surveying and Project Management. This provides our client with total in-house designs giving us an advantage over other design consultancies.

Job Tasks:

We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to plan and supervise a wide range of construction projects from start to finish. You will organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

An excellent Construction Project Manager must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills.

The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

  • Ensure the delivery of projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project.
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.
  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities.
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met.
  • Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies.
  • Engage with contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities.
  • Supervise the work of supply chain, project resources etc. and give them guidance when needed.
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
  • Arrange site investigations, establish the preferred solution, advise on sustainability, manage Health and Safety issues.
  • Keep all project related documentation in compliance with the Business Management systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Communicate project’s critical issues in a timely manner to Directors and clients.
  • Actively engage in CPD to maintain and facilitate personal and career development.
  • General office duties as requested by the Directors.

 

Experience and Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as construction project manager.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles.
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Familiarity with construction/project management software.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • A team player with leadership abilities.
  • BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field or equivalent qualification.

Topographical Surveyor

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a well-established firm of Chartered Surveyors, Architect and Engineers.

As a business we can provide solutions to our client base across the following disciplines: Architectural, Structural Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Building Surveying and Project Management. This provides our client with total in-house designs giving us an advantage over other design consultancies.

Job Tasks:

Perform detailed topographic and site surveys, including the determination of precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours primarily for construction purposes but potentially for other reasons.

Carry out field surveys using a variety of equipment including GPS, traditional survey equipment, and advanced digital instruments.

Carry out field surveys using UAV LiDAR & Photogrammetry.

Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.

Collaborate with engineers on projects.

Verify accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.

Assist in the delivery of projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations.

Arrange site investigations, establish the preferred solution, advise on sustainability, manage Health and Safety issues.

Keep all project related documentation in compliance with the Business Management systems, processes, and procedures.

Communicate project’s critical issues in a timely manner to Directors and clients.

Actively engage in CPD to maintain and facilitate personal and career development.

General office duties as requested by the Directors.

Experience and Key Skills:

The applicant will ideally have a Surveying degree or equivalent qualification.

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Topographical Surveyor.

Proficient in the use of modern surveying equipment, GPS, AutoCAD, and other relevant software.

Strong understanding of survey ethics and technical standards.

Proven ability to work as part of a team, building relationships with clients and other design team members.

Good knowledge of Microsoft software

Building Surveyor

McAndrew Martin are currently seeking to recruit a Building Surveyor.

McAndrew Martin’s Building Surveyors are professionally qualified and provide professional advice on property and construction including alterations, refurbishment, renovations, building defects, new buildings and extensions to existing properties including Listed Buildings.

This provides our client with total in-house designs giving us an advantage over other design consultancies.

Job Tasks:

McAndrew Martin’s Building Surveyors predominantly work closely with clients, contractors and Local Planning and Listed Building Consent bodies to ensure the building meets the client’s requirements along with sustainability, safety, and preservation standards.

Assist in the delivery of projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations.

Arrange site investigations, establish the preferred solution, advise on sustainability, manage Health and Safety issues

Prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications to enable the client to obtain competitive tender quotations.

Prepare a design which meets all the clients’ requirements, including budget and timescale.

Our Building Surveyor’s role also includes preparation of detailed plans and advising on the type of construction that may be available to the client, instructing Architects Technicians to prepare detailed plans and help to provide estimates for the work and dealing with Planning Applications, property law, Building Regulations and other legal matters.

Attendance at project and design meetings and site visits.

Works Sections, advise on materials selection, provide space planning services, advise on furniture / equipment selection.

During the works on site, our Building Surveyors will monitor that the works are being carried out as per the agreed design, assist the Clerk of Works / Site Project Manager in monitoring quality on site.

Keep all project related documentation in compliance with the Business Management systems, processes, and procedures.

Will be asked to undertake Condition Surveys, assess and report on building defects, Schedule of Conditions and undertake Quadrennial building inspections.

Communicate project’s critical issues in a timely manner to Directors and clients.

Mentor graduates and technicians.

Actively engage in CPD to maintain and facilitate personal and career development

General office duties as requested by the Directors

Encouragement for own continuous professional learning

 

Experience and Key Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Building Surveying, and RICS Existing Member

Demonstrated experience in design and construction projects £1-5M.

Good all-round design expertise using British, European, and international standards

Excellent communication skills

Proven ability to work as part of a team, building relationships with clients and other design team members

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office

Excellent time management and general organisation skills

Chartered member of RICS
